November 19, World Toilet Day: The SFA Group supports the development of sanitation facilities in three schools in India As

As a continuation of its actions in 2023, the SFA Group is financially supporting the Sulabh School Sanitation Club to improve the quality of life in Indian schools. For 2024, the SFA Group reaffirms its commitment with a donation of the same amount as in 2023 to implement concrete actions in three public schools in Sikkim, India: Rorathang Govt. Senior Secondary School, East Sikkim, Dikling Senior Secondary School, East Sikkim and DalapChand Govt. Secondary School, Pakyong, East Sikkim.

At two of these schools, toilets for 200 girls were completely renovated, while at the third, a hand washing area for 100 girls was renovated. The aim is to ensure that students have access to separate, well-equipped toilets to facilitate menstrual hygiene management.

Access to clean, well-maintained toilets also helps to reduce the risk of infection and disease transmission among students. Alongside these improvements, hygiene awareness and training were provided through hands-on workshops.

In addition, the availability and accessibility of sanitary products is essential for girls to attend school, and these students will benefit from a platform where they can gather and share information and knowledge on how to manage menstruation with dignity, without fear or discomfort. This project will continue to promote access to education by improving living and learning conditions in schools.
