AXON NETWORKS leases office space at Centre Point. As the building’s shared kitchen did not provide the desired level of convenience and comfort, the company wanted to create a private kitchen within its own office.

However, adding a sink and dishwasher to an existing office presented a wastewater collection and transfer challenge. Sanivite was selected to meet this requirement, enabling AXON NETWORKS to complete the kitchen without cutting into the floor slab.

Challenge: No existing drainage line at the kitchen location

The new AXON NETWORKS kitchen was designed with a sink and dishwasher. Both appliances generate wastewater during use and therefore need to be connected to the building’s drainage system.

However, there was no existing drainage line at the planned kitchen location. A conventional gravity drainage system could have required new pipework beneath the floor or other modifications to the existing premises.

This presented a significant challenge in a leased office, where renovation work must comply with the building’s requirements and cannot involve cutting into the structural floor slab. The project therefore required a solution capable of actively transferring kitchen wastewater to the existing drainage line without relying on gravity drainage at the point of installation.

Solution: Wastewater collection and transfer with Sanivite

Sanivite, part of the Sanigrey greywater drainage solution, was selected for the project. The unit was installed to collect wastewater from the sink and dishwasher before transferring it to the building’s existing drainage line. This allowed AXON NETWORKS to complete its private kitchen despite the absence of drainage at the installation point and restrictions on cutting into the floor slab.

Results: The private kitchen is now in use

Following the installation of Sanivite, AXON NETWORKS’ private kitchen was completed and put into use. Wastewater from the sink and dishwasher is collected and transferred to the existing drainage system, meeting the kitchen’s operational requirements.

The installation did not require cutting into the floor slab, allowing the new kitchen to be integrated into the completed office space. AXON NETWORKS was therefore able to add the required amenity while complying with the building’s renovation constraints.

The project demonstrates that a kitchen can be created in a location without an existing drainage line when a suitable pumping solution is used. This approach may also be considered by other office tenants looking to add a pantry, sink or dishwasher.
